The spring semester was far more appropriate for people who hate the darkness. Everything at the university was really good,great food at the university for 2.7 euros with your student card. Accommodation is provided by HOAS, the company suggested from the university. Rent was about 370 for a room in a shared flat with the the expenses covered.
A bit expensive if you want to make trips, but all of them worth it. You can reach easily Saint Petersburg, Tallin and Stockholm, fly to Riga from Tampere and then travel within Finland. After April the weather was perfect for me, about 15-17 degrees and sunny.
A unique experience is Vappu, on the 1st of May, where you will see thousands of people in the streets celebrating.
Calm city, not very busy nightlife (Clubs and parties) but you have great opportunities for flat parties and relaxed situations. Perfect places to spend your night with your erasmus friends were Casa and Legenda, provided by the student association (SHS) both located in the same building, close to the university.
The only disadvantage was the night transportation, the last bus which went to Rastila was around 4 and the first metro was at 6.30, so if you wanted to go in the meantime, you had to take a taxi.
Not suggested if you can't handle the cold!
